Community Goes Europe 5: Meet Antonin Maquin

Salut ! My name is Antonin, I’m 25 years old and I come from France.

I have a degree in Archeology and Art History, I’m passionate about both of these subjects and always happy to discuss them with anyone interested. That passion led me to work in and around my hometown as a tour guide and cultural worker for a small training organization which welcomes french language teachers from all around the world to take part in trainings and discover local Culture, Art and History.

I’ve been involved in this job for much of my adult life, giving me the opportunity to meet wonderful teachers and students eager to share their culture with me. It also gave me the chance to work with ESC volunteers and Erasmus+ trainees as my colleagues, and build lasting friendships across borders.

This experience led me to look for international volunteering opportunities myself, to change role for once and become the one to travel abroad. Germany was a good pick for me as I believe it shares a lot with my country, while also being very different. I want to explore what we share and what we can learn from each other, to build bridges between two countries at the forefront of many of the worlds challenges.

I wanted to find a project I could contribute to while learning new skills that might help me contribute to the world in a positive way. Environmentalism, inclusiveness, giving opportunities to everyone are all ideas and goals that matter to me.
I believe volunteering with Culture Goes Europe will give me the chance to act on those fields, to learn from and with others, to bring back with me precious knowledge and experience, as well as tons of great memories!
