On June 27, 2025, CGE proudly hosted a national pilot workshop in Erfurt as part of the EU4YOUTH2ACT project — and what a day it was! Bringing together passionate youth workers and educators from across Germany, the event created a vibrant space for learning, reflection, and connection.

Held at our cozy and collaborative headquarters, the workshop welcomed a group of dedicated participants aged 25 to 40, each bringing their own experience and energy to the table. Whether seasoned professionals or emerging changemakers, everyone shared a clear mission: to strengthen youth participation and explore new ways to empower young people in today’s world
We began the day diving into the latest trends affecting young people in Germany and Europe — from mental health and political engagement to the evolving role of social media. With the support of research from the Shell Youth Study, the Hertie School, and the voices of youth themselves (through reels and campaign videos from the EU4YOUTH2ACT petition), the conversation quickly sparked meaningful dialogue and mutual inspiration.

We then introduced the main outputs of the EU4YOUTH2ACT project: a digital Platform and a Mobile App designed to support youth work in accessible, practical ways. Participants found the platform user-friendly and appreciated its potential as a tool for civic education. They offered valuable ideas for expanding its visibility — including integrating it with Erasmus+ training courses and using it in local workshops. The Mobile App, while still in development, showed exciting promise. Participants imagined playful, gamified formats that could make civic learning even more engaging for young people.

We also explored two exciting new frameworks — the Social Innovation Lab and the Social Impulse Hub — which offer fresh ways to structure and support youth-led initiatives in local communities. Discussions were lively, and participants shared ideas for how to implement these concepts in their own work. Finally, we wrapped up the learning part of the day with a dynamic session on intercultural communication, led by our colleague Vlad. Using games and role-play, participants explored the challenges and joys of collaboration across cultures — a vital skill for anyone working with diverse youth groups.
One thing was clear: the energy in the room was incredible. Participants not only gave the workshop the highest possible rating in their feedback, but also emphasized how much they appreciated the open atmosphere, hands-on methodology, and space for deep conversations. While many wished we had more time together (always a good sign!), they left with new tools, ideas, and connections to carry forward into their practice. The workshop also served as a powerful reminder of the creativity and commitment of youth workers — and their central role in building more democratic, inclusive, and hopeful futures.

We’re excited to build on this momentum. Based on what we learned together, we’ll continue developing the EU4YOUTH2ACT tools, ensuring they’re even more relevant, accessible, and engaging. And of course, we’re already planning the next opportunities for exchange and collaboration — stay tuned!
A huge thank you to everyone who participated, shared, reflected, and inspired. Together, we’re not just supporting youth — we’re shaping the future of youth work in Europe.
