Youth Sail
Supporting civil society at promoting human rights and democracy in regions of Kyrgyzs Republic.
What sets this action apart is its long-term vision: participants are not viewed merely as beneficiaries but as rights holders and future actors of change… the project not only delivers tailored training solutions but also reshapes local educational strategies to embed human rights at the heart of civic practice.
About the project
YOUTH SAIL Kyrgyzstan is a three-year educational program that strengthens human rights education and democratic participation by working with young people and grassroots, women-led civil society organisations across Kyrgyzstan. The programme uses non-formal, practice-based learning, combining national summer camps, online learning and close mentoring to help participants turn human rights values into real skills. Young people especially young women and youth from underserved regions learn to design and deliver human rights education activities on issues such as gender equality, digital rights, environmental justice and safe civic engagement, working in tandem with local organisations. By building a community of trained facilitators, supporting local initiatives and establishing a Trainers’ Guild, an open learning platform and a Kyrgyz-adapted human rights education method book, the programme creates lasting capacity for locally owned, safe and effective human rights work.
