Привет! My name is Artem Firsov, I was born in Siberia, Russia, but for 5 years I have been living in the southern city of Krasnodar.
I am 23 years old, and I spent my years in Krasnodar performing poetry on the streets. I am writing my poems and lyrics to music and recently won a grant for my project “Voice of the Streets” in Krasnodar for street musicians and poets. I have performed poetry at various events in Krasnodar, Moscow, Astrakhan and a lot of other places in Russia.
I’m quite familiar with the idea of volunteering. I was a volunteer at the World Festival of Youth and Students in Sochi 2017, volunteered of a lot in many events of the city where I live, and was even one of those selected to help out during the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Sochi.
I worked as a teacher with children for two years and was a counselor for two years in youth camps in the Krasnodar region. I also spent almost four years in youth politics, which gave me a lot of experience in organizing events and I met many interesting people.
In 2019 my path crossed two projects of CGE Erfurt e.V., one in Weimar, Germany (“#DecodingMedia Camps”) and one in Kharkov, Ukraine (“We are the Peacemakers!”).
I love creative people, I love to give people emotions, for which many remember me for a long time.
I chose to be a volunteer in CGE because I already know the organization and its uniquely caring attitude. I really love the commitment of people, who work there, and it truly inspires me. I know that I can bring my experience in organizing projects and make a difference. Living by the saying “The whole world is for us”, I want to help in implementing projects, which will unite people from all over the world and prove that boundaries are only in our heads.
Over the course of a year, I would like to gain insight into project management, administration of a non-governmental organization, create a network, improve the level of communication in English, learn German and, of course, experience life in Europe.
Artem Firsov is an ESC volunteer at CGE Erfurt e.V., doing his volunteering from March 2021 till February 2022, as part of the project “Community Goes Europe 3: Together We Are Stronger”.
