Exploring Polish Cultural and Historical Perspectives Through Cinema // PENDYW

Hello everyone, I am Nela, and on January 31st, I hosted a workshop as part of our Exploring Global Perspectives Through Cinema project. This initiative celebrates the art of filmmaking by bringing together movies from both EU and non-EU directors, highlighting the diversity of global cinema. Through carefully curated films, we aim to explore unique cultural narratives, artistic styles, and storytelling techniques that transcend borders.

For this session, we watched Ida by Paweł Pawlikowski, a visually stunning and deeply introspective film that explores identity, faith, and history in post-war Poland. After the screening, we gathered for an engaging discussion, sharing thoughts on the film’s themes, cinematography, and emotional impact. The conversation fostered cross-cultural dialogue, emphasizing the role of cinema in connecting different perspectives and experiences. Of course, no movie night would be complete without refreshments—everyone enjoyed snacks and drinks while exchanging ideas. It was a wonderful evening filled with meaningful conversations, and I look forward to the next session!

The workshop was brought to life by the PENDYW project, which supports creative initiatives and is co-supported by EU4YOUTH2ACT (2023-1-IT03-KA220-000154855). A big thank you to the provided EU funding for making this event possible!
