On Friday, 7th November, the Other Music Academy (OMA) in Weimar hosted the final gathering of the ART’kademie, within the New Inherit project: a night of celebration, music and community. After months of workshops and creative exchanges, the Finissage & Open Mic marked the closing of the project and celebrated community spirit, shared stories and collective creativity.
After a warm welcome with good food and interesting conversations, our four Cultural Ambassadors took the stage once more to present the outcome of their art residencies, which they had first exhibited during the Vernissage in September. United by the common purpose of creating an artistic space for the community, they guided the audience through OMA’s rooms to see what was achieved during months of dedication and team work.
Lotte showed the artistic installations and the creative photos created through collaborative workshops. Then, Mariana guided the audience through the collage installation, co-created with community members during the events. Zaida introduced her workshop, through which she created a creative and safe space for migrants to share their stories and their relationship with Germany. Hannah invited visitors into her idea of mindful rituals and tea ceremonies as medium to connect people and to share cultures. Each room offered a glimpse into how art can connect people and give shape to shared experiences.
The evening ended with an Open Mic session, where anyone could perform, sing or play an instrument. Some participants shared their own music and others joined spontaneously, creating a relaxed and open atmosphere that reflected the spirit of the whole project.
The night was a great opportunity for people to reunite and to look back on what had been created together through New Inherit project and to imagine what might come next.
