We are happy to share the publication of the final brochure of the Soft Skills for Democracy (SK4D) project, a collaborative Erasmus+ Youth Participation initiative between CGE Erfurt e.V. (Germany) and Logos Polska (Poland), aimed at strengthening civic engagement through the development of soft skills.
Over the course of the project, SK4D supported young people aged 18–30 in developing key competences for active civic participation, such as communication, leadership, empathy, critical thinking, teamwork, creativity, media literacy, and responsible engagement with AI, among others. Through workshops, mentorship, LARP-based learning, activism sessions, and cross-border job shadowing, participants strengthened both their personal and professional skills while becoming more confident, informed, and engaged members of their communities.
Our initiative particularly aimed to include young people with fewer opportunities and to connect youth with civil society actors in Germany and Poland. By combining non-formal education methods with intercultural exchange, SK4D encouraged participants to reflect on democratic values, challenge misinformation, and contribute to more inclusive and resilient democratic communities.
This newly published brochure brings together the main outcomes of the project, including its approach, activities, and key learnings. It reflects on how soft skills can play a crucial role in supporting democratic values, strengthening community engagement, and empowering young people to take initiative.

With this publication, we aim to share the project’s experience with a wider audience and contribute to ongoing discussions on youth participation and civic education in Europe.
