Last Wednesday, 29 April 2026, the Social Impulse Hub hosted its second session of the First Customer Programme, the first phase of the Business Matchmaking Programme (TASK4ISI). Facilitated by Osman Sajid from StartUp Migrants, participants were introduced to two important aspects when beginning a business: competition and timing.
Analyzing the market and identifying the competition are necessary steps for positioning the business idea and finding its value, helping to highlight what makes the business unique. Asking the right questions helps entrepreneurs to validate their ideas: this exercise includes determining the Minimum Viable Product, going after the people to sell the idea, and be available to take in feedback and improve the product or service.
No product or service should be launched without proper and reliable testing – conversations lead to feedback that can prompt improvements and a better understanding of where the business idea stands. The magnitude of the product or service indicates the value proposition it can acquire in the long-term, whether it is B2B, B2C or B2G. To put the theory into practice, the trainer proposed participants to compare their business ideas against real and plausible competitors. This exercise aimed at reflecting about the capability, value and the competition of their business ideas.
The session finished with a personalized mentoring session, allowing participants to any questions about their business ideas.
