Youth Sail

Supporting civil society at promoting human rights and democracy in regions of Uzbekistan.

The program gives practical insights and helps us in pre addressing the problems that can occur while building a startup which we never thought of and the workshops give us a clarity and vision about how we should think, react and act accordingly.

About the project

Youth Sail is a EU-funded capacity building project focused on strengthening human rights education and democratic values among young people in the regions of Uzbekistan. Coordinated by CGE Erfurt e.V. (Germany) and implemented together with Uzbek civil society partners, the project responds to the limited access young people have to structured human rights education especially outside major cities.
The project combines human rights education, ecological rights, and critical thinking, with a strong focus on climate change and environmental responsibility as integral parts of human rights. Using a peer-to-peer and learning-by-doing approach, Youth Sail empowers young leaders and civil society actors to become facilitators, educators, and active change-makers in their local communities.
Through summer camps, training-of-trainers programmes, local activities, and international exchanges in Uzbekistan and Germany, the project develops tailor-made, practical educational tools that can be directly applied by civil society organisations. Youth Sail strengthens regional networks, integrates human rights education into everyday youth work, and promotes young people not as passive beneficiaries, but as rights-holders and active actors of society.
