Youth Sail Brings Human Rights Dialogue to EU Fest 2026 in Bishkek

Amid the vibrant atmosphere of EU Fest 2026 in Bishkek, visitors were invited to embark on a symbolic “Journey through Europe” and for many, one of the most meaningful stops along the way was the Youth Sail stand.

Representatives of CGE, together with the National Coordinator and partner organisation ALGA, welcomed festival guests to an interactive activity that encouraged reflection on a timely question: Which human right is the most important right for you now? Visitors of all ages shared their thoughts, sparking conversations about dignity, equality, freedom, participation, and the challenges facing societies today.

The activity highlighted one of the core missions of the Youth Sail project: creating spaces where young people and communities can engage in meaningful dialogue about human rights and democratic values. Throughout the day, the stand became a meeting point for discussion, learning, and exchange of ideas.

The Youth Sail initiative also attracted the attention of distinguished guests, including EU Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan Rémi Duflot, German Ambassador Monika Lenchardt, as well as representatives of civil society organisations and partner institutions implementing other EU-funded projects. Their visit underscored the importance of strengthening cooperation and supporting initiatives that promote civic engagement and human rights awareness.

This year’s EU Fest was organised under the theme “Journey through Europe,” celebrating the cultural richness, creativity, and diversity of the European Union. The festival was organised by the Delegation of the European Union to Kyrgyzstan together with EU Member States and partners.

Through a dynamic programme of art, education, gastronomy, and interactive cultural activities, the event aimed to strengthen friendship, mutual understanding, and cooperation between the European Union and Kyrgyzstan.

For Youth Sail, participation in EU Fest 2026 was more than an opportunity to showcase the project it was a chance to engage hundreds of visitors in a conversation about the values that unite societies and the human rights that shape our shared future.
