Our Participatory Performative Arts project has come to an end, and what better venue to close this journey than the stage of the FröHlich Festival -a festival that allows participatory arts in a public space!
On August 22nd, our trainers Nataliia and Lolo joined us in Weimar to showcase what they’d picked up during the previous international training sessions. Their workshop mixed theatre, dance, clowning and mime, and creative performance. One highlight of the masterclass was when participants were asked to impersonate an object and deliver a monologue as it.
Once the activities wrapped up, Lolo and Nataliia shared their reflections and the milestones of our project: what they’d learned, and the takeaways they’re bringing into their current work.
Within the PPA framework, participatory performative arts were used as a tool for civic activation in migration, rural, and queer contexts, combining theatre, co-creation workshops, and public performances. Together, these methods equipped youth workers with innovative tools to help young people express their stories, build confidence, and take an active role in their communities.
A highlight of this project is that Lolo and Nataliia were especially happy with how it all turned out, so much so that they’ve started their own association together with other partner organizations from the PPA network.
